Welcome to the Herd of Golden Buffaloes!

The students have arrived. The class of 2023 is safely on campus. And the college football season starts this Friday for the University of Colorado. Welcome to the herd of Golden Buffaloes!

There's a new big man on campus this year. His name is Mel Tucker, and he's the new head football coach here in Boulder.

The final Denver-based tilt of the Rocky Mountain Showdown will be at 8:00 pm Friday on ESPN.

The series between Colorado and Colorado State started in 1893, and since then the schools have played 90 times. The Colorado Buffs hold a 66-22 edge in victories. There have been 2 ties. The Buffs have won four in row, including last year's 45-13 thumping of the Rams.
Traditionally, Colorado has been a much stronger team than Colorado State. They play in a Power Five (top tier) conference, while CSU does not.

In Division 1 all time, Colorado is tied for 25th in wins, with 705 victories. Colorado State is 89th, with only 520 wins. Colorado has won a national championship, had a Heisman Trophy winner, and 31 consensus All-Americans. Colorado State has had 4 All-Americans.

Despite that, CSU has won 6 times since the new millennium started. Six out of 19 games may not sound great, but it's a much higher percentage than the Rams won before the year 2000.

The game is being played in Denver, hopefully for the last time. Some of us feel that college rivalries belong on campus, not down the road in an NFL stadium.
